10 December Human Rights Day Campaign

#HaksızDeğilsin | (“You Have Rights”)

10 December is celebrated as the Human Rights Day, since 10 December 1948, when the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted. After the World War II, states have agreed on safeguarding individual rights and freedoms. Universal Declaration of Human Rights has been prepared by the United Nations Human Rights Commission in June 1948, and it was adopted by the UN General Assembly Session in Paris on 10 December 1948.

As signatories of the protocol for running awareness-raising campaigns on international days; United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA), Association of City Councils of Turkey, City Councils of Turkey Platform, kindly invite their members to participate in the joint action campaigns. In this framework, the hashtag to be used on social media platforms during this 10 December Human Rights Day campaign will be #HaksızDeğilsin. Besides, the #YerelinÇağı ve #SKH16  hashtags, which were also used in our previous campaign may be used.

The hashtag campaign on Twitter will start on 10 December 2016 at 8 PM (TRT) and last on 10 December at 10 PM (TRT). It is highly important that more posts be sent during 8 PM-10 PM on 10 December in particular, so that the campaign will have more impact.

We kindly ask you to send news and photographs of the activities performed by local authorities and City Councils within the framework of the Human Rights Day, to UCLG-MEWA Secretariat, via uclg-mewa@uclg-mewa.org.

Kind Regards,
UCLG-MEWA Secretariat General
