The 7th Executive Bureau Meeting of the Asian Mayors Forum (AMF), UCLG-MEWA’s Iran country representative, was virtually held on 22 June 2020.
In the meeting titled “Urban Health and Economy after Coronavirus Outbreak”, Goshtasb Mozafari, AMF Secretary General, and Dr. Pirouz Hanachi, as Mayor of Tehran, founder and host city, delivered greetings and introductory speeches respectively. In the introductory session, Ms. Fatma Şahin, Mayor of Gaziantep and Term President of AMF, also addressed to the participants.
Referring to the activities of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality and Turkey in general, Ms. Şahin specifically emphasized the term “smart cities”. Underlining that environment-related projects should be facilitated, Ms. Mayor emphasized the importance of developing studies as related to any subject concerning human beings.
Speaking in the meeting, Mr. Mohamad Saadie, UCLG-MEWA President and President of Union of Dannieh Municipalities, underscored that many collaborations can be developed by strengthening organizations such as UCLG and AMF through ensuring national, regional and global coordination.
The meeting ended after the executive bureau session, where members discussed issues such as 2019-2024 Strategic Plan, Plan and Program of Activities for 2020-2021, and so on.
