The Albanian edition of ‘Training Program on Municipal Enterprises for Local Authorities’ organized by UNDP Istanbul International Center for Private Sector and Development (IICPSD) in cooperation with UCLG-MEWA took place online on November 23.
The training was held with the support of UNDP Albania, Kibar Holding, Association of Albanian Municipalities, Union of Turkish World Municipalities and Council of European Municipalities and Regions. At the opening session, Mehmet Duman, UCLG-MEWA Secretary General, and stakeholder representatives emphasized the importance of the program in their speeches. Duman stated that municipal enterprises, as an important source of financial autonomy, help the financial resilience of local governments.
Following the opening session, Agron Haxhimali, Executive Director of Association of Albanian Municipalities, made a presentation on the current situation of municipal enterprises in Albania. Salim Korkmaz, UCLG-MEWA General Coordinator, discussed the module on “Urban Challenges and Localization of SDGs” with the participants in the training session.
