Following the Presidency Meeting, UCLG-MEWA Culture and Tourism Committee held its panel session entitled “Alternative Tourism: Trends and Visions” within the scope of Travel Turkey Izmir Fair under the auspices of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. During the panel held on Friday, December 6, 2019, important branches of alternative tourism such as health tourism, congress tourism, gastronomy tourism, ecotourism and urban tourism were discussed in detail by experts.
Mr. Tunç Soyer, Mayor of Izmir, delivered his keynote speech at the beginning of the panel session, which began immediately after the UCLG-MEWA Executive Bureau Meeting. Soyer announced in his speech that a comprehensive tourism inventory of Izmir was underway in order to develop the potential of alternative tourism in the city.
Moderated by the journalist Ismail Reha Arar, the panel session, which followed Soyer's speech, had İlker Ünsever delivering his speech on health tourism, Michele Rumiz on ecotourism, Volkan Ataman on congress tourism, Yeşim Kaya on gastronomy tourism and Zahra Golmohammadi on urban tourism. The panel session “Alternative Tourism: Trends and Visions” was an interactive event with the contributions of the audience and drew great attention within the scope of the Fair.
