DIGITAL DATA IN MEWA REGION

Almost two-thirds of the world’s population uses the internet. The number of people accessing social media platforms is half the world’s population.

If the profiles using social media platforms are examined, we can see that every segment of the society is active here, from company executives to their consultants, from advertisers to people who write on all kinds of blog-style platforms.

It is also observed that the time spent on these platforms is increasing. According to Twitter’s 2023 reports, it has over 1 billion users, but only 370 million are actively using their accounts.

According to the digital report of We Are Social, which regularly performs comprehensive statistical studies on social media every three months, 5 billion 160 million people worldwide use the internet. 4 billion 760 million of them use social media. It is also stated in the report that users over the age of 13 are taken into account.

One of the vivid details in the report is that YouTube is the social media platform with the most time spent, with an average of 23 hours per month. This platform attracts attention with its short and exciting content and feature-length productions, which manages to attract users. It is followed by Facebook with 20 hours. On the other hand, Twitter lags behind other platforms with an average of 5 hours.

In this context, as UCLG-MEWA, we carried out this table study on internet and social media usage in our region. Our works will be shared with our readers, periodically.

Our table study includes the total population of 16 countries in our region, the number of internet and its users, and specifically their distribution on social media platforms.
