Partnership

UCLG-MEWA aims to be the international voice and advocate of local governments in the MEWA region. On that account, UCLG-MEWA establishes and strengthens multi-tier partnerships with United nations and global community. It aims to ensure the representation of local governments, establish strong governance structures and follow up the localization of international agendas in the MEWA region.

United Cities and Local Government (UCLG) is a global network of cities and local, regional, and metropolitan governments and their associations. It is committed to representing, defending, and amplifying the voices of local and regional governments to leave no-one and no place behind.

  • CDP – Carbon Disclosure Project

Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an international non-profit organization based in the United Kingdom, Japan, India, China, Germany and the United States of America that helps companies and cities disclose their environmental impact. It aims to make environmental reporting and risk management a business norm, driving disclosure, insight, and action towards a sustainable economy.

  • EU – European Union

The European Union (EU) is a political and economic union of 27 member states that are located primarily in Europe. EU policies aim to ensure the free movement of people, goods, services and capital within the internal market; enact legislation in justice and home affairs; and maintain common policies on trade, agriculture, fisheries and regional development.

  • FMDV – Global Funds for Cities Development

The Global Fund for Cities Development (FMDV) is an NGO which supports emerging and developing local authorities in accessing the necessary financial resources to finance their urban development projects. The FMDV is a technical assistance and financial engineering organization.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a United Nations agency tasked with helping countries eliminate poverty and achieve sustainable economic growth and human development.

  • UN Habitat

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) works with partners to build inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities and communities. UN-Habitat promotes urbanization as a positive transformative force for people and communities, reducing inequality, discrimination and poverty.

  • NDI – National Democracy Institute

National Democracy Institute (NDI) is a non-profit American NGO that works with partners in developing countries to increase the effectiveness of democratic institutions.

  • GCoM – Global Covenant of Mayors

The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) brings together the Compact of Mayors and the European Union’s Covenant of Mayors. It is a global coalition of city leaders addressing climate change by pledging to cut greenhouse gas emissions and prepare for the future impacts of climate change.

  • GTFM – Global Task Force on Migration

Global Task Force on Migration (GTFM) is a global centre of urban migration best practices and expertise that will grow to support its members to influence and participate in global processes relevant to local authorities, migration and displacement (such as the Global Compacts on Refugees and on Migration, the Global Forum for Migration and Development Mayor Mechanism, etc…).

  • APLA – Association of Palestinian Local Authorities

The Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) is a semi-governmental Non-Profit association that forms a comprehensive framework which holds all the Palestinian local authorities and works for and with them, to provide better services for the Palestinian citizen by defending their rights, and representing them on all levels nationally, regionally, and internationally.

  • OICC – Organization of Islamic Capitals and Cities

Organization of Islamic Capitals and Cities (OICC) is an international non- governmental and non-profitable Organization. It focuses on preservation and promotion of cultural heritage of the capitals and largest cities of the 56 member states. It also works for the promotion of capacity building programs by coordinating with the member states for the development of international relations among the member states.

  • ATO – Arab Towns Organization

Arab Towns Organization (ATO) is an Arab apolitical, non-religious and non-governmental regional organization. It was founded in the city of Kuwait on March 15th, 1976, and is specialized in the affairs of towns and municipalities.

  • UMT – Union of Municipalities of Türkiye 

Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (UMT) is the only national union of local governments that has been granted the power to represent member municipalities at national and international levels.

  • WALD – World Academy for Local Government and Democracy

World Academy for Local Government and Democracy (WALD) is a non-governmental organization, serving for the public benefit. For WALD, democratic local governments are main institutions to establish and maintain democracy and human rights, thus, local governments should always revise, discuss and improve their fundamental principles.

  • IICPSD – Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development

UNDP’s Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD), supports the private sector and foundations to become transformative partners in development through research, advocacy for inclusive business, facilitation of public-private dialogue and multi stakeholder-partnerships.

  • KA.DER- Association for Supporting Women Candidates

Association for Supporting Women Candidates (KA.DER) is a women’s organization which advocates equal representation of women and men in all fields of life. KA. DER sees equality between women and men in all elected and appointed decision making bodies, where decisions concerning the society and the individuals are made, as a matter of democracy.
