Training Program on Sustainable Development: Localization and Monitoring was held on October 18-19, 2021, under the auspices of Kyrenia Municipality.

Organized to inform the heads of departments of the municipality about the content and scope of the VLR process launched by Kyrenia Municipality and to raise awareness on how the report will contribute to the municipal services and visibility of the city of Kyrenia on international platforms, Salim Korkmaz, UCLG-MEWA General Coordinator, made a presentation on the theoretical and historical background of important concepts such as sustainable development goals, millennium development goals and voluntary local reviews.

The theoretical and local works on the SDGs were discussed in the training that focused on the implementation and monitoring of the SDGs. The projects and activities of the municipality were aligned with the SDGs, with the participation of department representatives from Kyrenia Municipality.  Following the training, a workshop was organized where department heads were asked to produce a project that is in line with the SDGs.

The final document, which will be prepared after the training, will provide data on which areas the municipal services are concentrated within the scope of 2030 Agenda.
