The UCLG-MEWA Council is the principal policy-making body of UCLG-MEWA. It takes decisions regarding the basic policies of UCLG-MEWA and ensures the implementation of the general policies determined by the General Assembly.

The UCLG-MEWA Council may convene extraordinarily once a year in October/November at the call of the President or at the request of at least one-third of its members.
