"No city is a party to any war"

Distinguished Representatives of Cities and Great People Value the City They Live in,

Today is the 16th of May, United Nations International Day of Living Together in Peace. Until 2019, our world has faced many periods making difficult to live together. As a consequence of these processes, our world witnessed great destruction. Undoubtedly, our cities are the places most affected by these demolitions. We, as UCLG-MEWA, regret that our cities have paid too much and still continues to pay.

On this 16 May, United Nations International Day of Living Together in Peace, we emphasize that no city is a party to any war. We underline the significance not only of the importance of peace but also of the dialogue and cooperation.

Noting that each individual contributes to the cities with their different characteristics away from any kind of discrimination, we call you to jointly build livable and peaceful places for the future of our cities and our people.
