The meeting of the Advisory Board took place virtually on December 10, 2020, for the preparations of the first Voluntary Local Review of the MEWA Region, which is carried out by Sultanbeyli Municipality (Istanbul, Turkey) and UCLG-MEWA.
Relevant experts participated in the virtual meeting held to reflect more the contributions of the cities in the MEWA Region to the 2030 Agenda at the High Level Political Forum to take place in 2021.
The Methodology Working Group, established within the Advisory Board to determine a methodology for Sultanbeyli’s 2020 Voluntary Local Review, discussed the ways in which to prepare a Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Action Plan especially related to corporate structure and how to integrate the action plan with the Voluntary Local Review (VLR).
The role of experts in localizing the SDGs was one of the topics discussed at the meeting. To what extent the experts will be involved in the report was also evaluated. Mentioning the assessment of the level of success of the SDGs, the Methodology Working Group exchanged ideas on future projects and objectives.
The online meeting ended with the evaluation of awareness-raising activities on the SDGs and the VLRs.
