The Pilot Project on Mapping the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Turkey, which is made in cooperation and with sponsorship of World Academy for Local Governments and Democracy (WALD), organized its second workshop after the first workshop in Mezitli. The workshop started on August 2nd, 2018, under the auspices of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality.
Burhanettin Kocamaz, Mayor of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality and UCLG-MEWA Co-President, said in his opening speech, “We make Mersin a more livable city by implementing the SDGs.’’.
Mehmet Duman, UCLG-MEWA General Secretary, highlighted the importance of the project. “Our Project which started in Turkey will form a basis for our regional movement”, he said.
It is aimed to match the municipal works of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality with the related SDGs, within the context of the workshop.
