The call for the 5th edition of the International Award UCLG – Mexico City – Culture 21 which saw many applications from the MEWA region in previous years.are open!
The Award affirms the strong commitment of United Cities and Local Governments on the key role that culture plays in sustainable development. This year, the Award will recognize cities and personalities who have excelled in the promotion of cultural rights in the context of the COVID-19 crisis and post-pandemic recovery, and/or that have promoted culture as an important part of the caring system.
We would like to highlight that 50 candidacies will be recognized as finalists and good practices with the label “Cultural Rights and the COVID Crisis: the 50 Best Actions”. We invite you to check out the dedicated website of the Award, to read the rules, and to apply before 22nd April 2022.

The call for applications for the UCLG Peace Prize 2022 has officially opened!
The UCLG Peace Prize is a global award that celebrates successful initiatives for conflict prevention, peacebuilding, post-conflict reconstruction, and reconciliation undertaken by local governments worldwide.

The Award Ceremony for the 3rd edition of the UCLG Peace Prize will be held during the UCLG World Congress, taking place from 10-14 October 2022 in Daejeon, South Korea. The shortlisted local governments will be invited to present their initiatives. Besides worldwide exposure and recognition for the finalists, the winning local government will receive a prize package of €20.000.
