UCLG-MEWA Executive Bureau Meeting was held on 6 December 2019 in Izmir, Turkey under the auspices of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. During the meeting where strategic priorities determined in the light of the evaluations made by members and stakeholders were submitted for approval, the UCLG-MEWA report of activities for the period 9 July 2019-6 December 2019 was presented. Additionally, the 2020 draft budget of UCLG-MEWA was put to vote, and a briefing was made on the planned activities for the year 2020.
UCLG-MEWA 2020-2022 Strategic Plan Approved
In order to determine the strategic priorities and goals of the 2020-2022 term, UCLG-MEWA’s Strategic Plan, which had been discussed at UCLG-MEWA Presidency Meeting on 1-3 November 2019, was first submitted for the approval of the Presidency members.
The plan included the current situation analysis and financial status of UCLG-MEWA as well as the works and activities to be carried out with the stakeholders during the 3-year period. Furthermore, the plan also included a SWOT analysis, which outlined the strengths and weaknesses of UCLG-MEWA, with the aim of laying down a solid foundation for the plan.
12 New Members Welcomed to UCLG-MEWA Family
Another important topic discussed at the meeting was the new membership applications. Within this framework, the membership applications of local governments from Jordan, Palestine and Turkey were approved.
Also, it was decided that the Executive Bureau and Council Joint Meeting, which is to be held in October-November of 2020 in accordance with the UCLG-MEWA Constitution, would be hosted by Adana Metropolitan Municipality.
