United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA) organized an online live stream local government talk with Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Üsküdar University.
UCLG-MEWA has continued its regular local government talks, which had to be suspend due to the measures taken against novel coronavirus (COVID-19), online with Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Üsküdar University, through its social media channels on 7 April 2020. The theme of the talk was “measures taken against novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and public health”.
During his speech, Prof. Dr. Sur highlighted the importance of maintaining social distancing and added that research and development works on vaccine against coronavirus became widespread in Turkey and around the world.
In his presentation on public health approach, Prof. Dr. Sur has touched upon the outbreak and spread of the coronavirus across the world. He also informed the audience about the measures needed to be taken against coronavirus.
In his answer to a question, which was asked through #MEWATalks hashtag, on when we could go back to our normal lives, Prof. Dr. Sur pointed out that the world would be more digitalized from now, and people would pay more attention to their well-being and maintain social distancing. Prof. Sur also emphasized the importance of hand washing and stated that daily life would make people adjust to the new way of living.
