UCLG-MEWA is Discussing Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans


Sustainable Bus System for Smart Cities Conference will be co-organized by United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA), World Resources Institute for Sustainable Cities (WRI) Turkey Sustainable Cities, Busworld Academy, HKF Trade Fair, Association of Private Urban Public Bus Operators’ Union (TÖHOB), United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UN-CRD) and UN-Habitat on 5-6 March 2020 at Istanbul Expo Center, Turkey. On this occasion, municipalities, bus firms, civil society organizations, academics and related stakeholders will gather with the aim of sharing their insights on the implementation of future-oriented bus systems, based on Turkish and international experiences.

Since 2014, the Busworld Academy Conference has organized biannual editions in cooperation with several partners in different cities such as Istanbul (Turkey edition), Brussels (Europe edition), Moscow (Russia edition), Shanghai (China edition), Colombia (Latin America edition), Bengaluru (India Edition), Almaty (Central Asia edition), Jakarta (South East Asia edition) and Omaha – Nebraska (North America edition). The Conference will consist of bus & coach exhibition, academic sessions and networking session on market and mobility analysis of buses and coaches in the MEWA Region, especially in Turkey. During the sessions, the topics of the evolution of zero emission bus services, grid systems for electric transport, optimal collaboration between local government and public transport authorities and Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) will be discussed. The program will be conducted in English and Turkish.
