United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) and the Swedish International Cooperation Development Agency came together with UCLG-MEWA at an online meeting, to address general trends of localization on February 12, 2024.
In addition to Dr. Mehmet Duman, UCLG-MEWA Secretary General, Reem Abusamra, International Relations Coordinator and Junaid Rafiq, Research Officer; the online meeting was also participated by Emilia Saiz, UCLG Secretary General, Pablo Fernández Marmissolle-Daguerre, Assistant to Secretary General for Partnerships, Sara Hoeflich, UCLG Learning Director and Louise Hermann with Jeet Mistry from SIDA.
Within the context of the Localizing Sustainable Development Goals, Climate, Sustainable Resilient Society and 2030 Agenda, UCLG and UCLG-MEWA shared their activities related to the area.
Reflecting on UCLG-MEWA’s activities, Reem Abusamra mentioned the organization’s VLR & VSR agenda, the workshops on Decantralized Cooperation held both in Konya and Amman, the workshops on Resilience held in Dibba al Fujairah and Trabzon in the context of Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, and the publications related to the mentioned titles.
