UCLG-MEWA URBAN TALKS KICKED OFF!

UCLG-MEWA started the year 2024 with a plan to host a mayor, an academic figure, or an expert every month, within the concept of a series of dialogues titled “Urban Talks.” In this context, we shot some of the episodes with various mayors and academic figures in January, February and March. Taking place in UCLG-MEWA Headquarters in Istanbul, the series allowed its guest speakers to address specific topics such as resilience, local culinary culture, and history of arts.

The guest of January was Atty. Turan Hançerli, Mayor of Avcılar, who spoke on urban resilience. Mentioning the resilience activities carried out in Istanbul’s Avcılar, Hançerli also touched on the international dimension of the mentioned activities. In February, Dr. Abdullah Atiyye, Art Historian from the University of Mansoura, addressed cities within the frame of history and arts, under the title “City and Art.” In March, on the other hand, Mohamad Saadieh, President of the Union of Dannieh Municipalities and UCLG-MEWA Deputy Ombudsman, shared his reflections on the rich culinary culture and local traditions in Lebanon.

UCLG-MEWA proudly announces that Urban Talks will continue to host mayors and experts monthly.
