UCLG-MEWA VISITED LÜLEBURGAZ MUNICIPALITY WITH MAYORS FROM MOROCCO AND IVORY COAST

Mehmet Duman, Secretary General of United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA), Mohamed Sefiani, Mayor of Chefchaouen (Morocco), Diane Nasseneba Toure, Mayor of Odienné (Ivory Coast) and UCLG-MEWA Staff paid a visit to Lüleburgaz Municipality.

During the meeting, UCLG-MEWA Secretary General provided information about the works of UCLG-MEWA; and Emin Halebak, Mayor of Lüleburgaz, informed the UCLG-MEWA delegation on their successful municipal works in many fields.  The Mayors exchanged ideas on municipal administration and works via reciprocal questions asked.

At the end of the meeting, the delegation paid on-site visits to the local government works of Lüleburgaz Municipality.  Within the scope of the on-site visits, the delegation firstly visited Lüleburgaz Municipal Assembly Building.   Mayor Halebak guided the delegation around the Sokollu Complex Hamam, which has been used as the municipal assembly building since its restoration, and gave information on the works of their assembly, and transparency principles to the guest Mayors.

After the visit paid to the municipal building, the Bike Park under construction was visited by the delegation as a part of the on-site visits.  Declaring the year 2017 as the “Bike Year”, Lüleburgaz Municipality aims at promoting bike use especially by the children and youth, which paved the way for construction of the Bike Park.  Guiding the delegation around the park, the Mayor and Directors of Lüleburgaz underlined that the Park is the first and only of its kind in Turkey.
