One of the members of UCLG-MEWA, Karesi Municipality paid a visit to UCLG-MEWA Secretariat on 3 August 2016. The delegation led by Yücel Yılmaz, Mayor of Karesi, Mürsel Sabancı, Deputy Mayor, and municipal staff exchanged ideas with UCLG-MEWA team, on the following activities and how to cooperate in these events.
The meeting started with the informative speech of Mehmet Duman, UCLG-MEWA Secretary General, about the organization. Mr. Duman answered the questions asked by the guests, after giving more details on the organization.
Later on, each UCLG-MEWA Coordinator made presentations about their own departments. Activities and works of each department were given in the presentations.
Listening the presentations with great attention, the delegation appreciated UCLG-MEWA’s publicity works and effective use of technology. Mayor Yılmaz stated that UCLG-MEWA’s effective use of publication, media and information channels is an important point in developing the organization’s vision.
Moreover, possible partnership projects were discussed in the meeting. In this regard, it was decided to organize a meeting between Karesi Municipality and UCLG-MEWA Projects Department in the following months.
