Mehmet DUMAN, UCLG-MEWA Secretary General, paid a visit on 24 July 2018 to Khalifa AL-MARZOOQI, Consul General of the United Arab Emirates in Istanbul, Turkey, in his office and briefed him about the ongoing works and activities of the organization.
H Khalifa AL-MARZOOQI, Consul General of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Istanbul, welcomed Mehmet DUMAN, UCLG-MEWA Secretary General, at his office in the Consulate General of the UAE in Istanbul, Turkey. Mr. DUMAN briefed Mr. MARZOOQI on the most important activities of the organization and informed him of the urgent need to open the doors of cooperation with local governments in the UAE.
Mehmet DUMAN also referred to the interest of the participation of local governments and municipalities in UCLG-MEWA activities in order to localize the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in the MEWA region.
The Consul expressed his willingness to cooperate with UCLG-MEWA and to reach out to those concerned in the UAE. Local governments and municipalities could be invited to the UCLG-MEWA events in Turkey with a view being an official member of the organization.
Finally, Mehmet DUMAN, UCLG-MEWA Secretary General, presented a plaque to Khalifa AL-MARZOOQI, Consul General of the United Arab Emirates in Istanbul.
