Salim Korkmaz, General Coordinator of UCLG-MEWA, and Bükre Türksoy, Coordinator of Relations with International Organizations, visited the EU4 Energy Transition Project Office on 14th January 2022 and had a meeting with EU4 Energy Transition Covenant of Mayors in the Western Balkans and Turkey Project Leader Daiva Matonienė.
EU4 Energy Transition Covenant of Mayors in the Western Balkans and Turkey, which is co-financed by the European Union and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Federal German Republic, supports cities which are parties to the Covenant to fulfill their commitments regarding energy and climate goals. In this context, UCLG-MEWA, as the help desk of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM) in Turkey, and the project team of EU4 Energy Transition have exchanged ideas on what kind of joint activities can be implemented in the year 2022 to build capacities of municipalities in relation to climate change. In this framework, a joint sustainable energy and climate action plan (SECAP) training is planned to be organized for district municipalities in February 2022.
