UCLG-MEWA took part in the Consultation Meeting for the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, held on 26 February 2026 in Ankara, Türkiye.
Convened by the Presidency of Climate Change under the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, the meeting brought together key stakeholders ahead of COP31. UCLG-MEWA was represented by Deputy Secretary General Ali Murat Duman and Communications Coordinator Junaid Rafiq.
UCLG-MEWA, actively contributed to discussions on climate adaptation, youth and climate envoys, and the Action Agenda covering zero waste and circular economy, agriculture and food systems, and seas and oceans. Besides shared proposals and insights to strengthen preparations for the global summit.
COP31 will be hosted in Antalya, Türkiye, from 9 to 20 November 2026, under the leadership of the Turkish Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change.
