We are pleased to share that the next edition of Bridge for Cities, the annual flagship event of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), jointly organized with UCLG, will take place from 28 to 30 October 2026 at the Vienna International Center (Vienna, Austria) under the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Green Innovation: Powering a Sustainable Future.”
Bridge for Cities provides a global platform for local and regional governments, national authorities, international organizations, and other urban stakeholders to exchange experiences, foster partnerships, and advance sustainable urban development. Following the successful 10th-anniversary edition held alongside the UCLG World Council in Xi’an, the 2026 edition will continue to strengthen the role of cities in shaping global solutions.
As part of the official program, UCLG and UNIDO will jointly convene the Mayors Dialogues on 29 October 2026. These sessions will bring together mayors, governors, and local and regional leaders to exchange experiences on how cities are harnessing innovation and artificial intelligence to advance inclusive, resilient, and sustainable urban development. The program will also feature thematic high-level discussions, an exhibition, and the Bridge for Cities Knowledge Platform, showcasing concrete local initiatives.
The event will also support the implementation of UCLG’s work plan approved in Tangier last month, including by strengthening collaboration with UNIDO, a central element of the Global Facility for Innovation in Local Public Services, one of the implementation mechanisms of the Tangier Outcome Document.
