Towards COP31: Local Climate Action Policy Dialogue in Gaziantep, Türkiye

We are pleased to invite you to “Towards COP31: Local Climate Action Policy Dialogue: Local Leadership, Urban Resilience and Sustainable Transformation,” to be held on 26 October 2026 at the Teymur Continental Hotel & Convention Center in Gaziantep, Türkiye.

The event is hosted by Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality and organized by WALD, the United Nations-Türkiye, the Zero Waste Foundation, the COP31 High-Level Climate Champion, and UCLG-MEWA, as preparation for the COP31 process.

With Türkiye hosting COP31, this dialogue offers municipalities a chance to bring their experience, innovations, and local climate solutions to the international agenda. Gaziantep is one of two regional hubs, alongside Muğla, that bring together mayors, municipal technical and planning units, public institutions, UN agencies, international financial institutions, banks, universities, the private sector, and civil society from neighboring provinces. Discussions will cover six themes: local leadership and multilevel governance; urban resilience; local climate finance; just and inclusive transition; water, food, nature, and circularity; and innovation, technology, and data.

Accommodation for a limited number of participants will be covered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Local transfer will be provided for all participants.

Please confirm your attendance by completing the online registration form by 21 October 2026, Wednesday, at 17:00 hours (GMT +3:00). We also encourage you to nominate one or two local climate initiatives for showcasing and to send any priorities you would like reflected in the Call.

The event will be held in Arabic, English and Turkish.
