We are inviting local and regional governments (cities, municipalities, etc.) to submit a comprehensive City Overview for the upcoming edition (Issue 52) of MEWA Agora.
Using the narrative format of an in-depth city profile, the articles should present a holistic portrait of a specific city or municipality. Submissions must combine solid policy analysis with ground-level realities, connecting local governance, spatial challenges, and heritage with broader global urban trends.
To illustrate the geographic scope of the publication and prevent thematic redundancy, past issues have highlighted cities such as Bethany, Gaza, Tripoli, Bodrum, Latakia, and Şanlıurfa
Key Structural Sections: To maintain consistency across the articles, submissions should cover the following dimensions of your selected city:
- Strategic Location & Demographics: Spatial context, geographic role, population dynamics, land-use boundaries, and infrastructure pressures.
- Economic Crossroads: Commercial vitality, local markets, employment generation, and regional transit connectivity.
- Heritage & Identity: Cultural, historical, or religious significance, architectural fabric, and smart/sustainable tourism potential.
- Urban Governance & Smart Solutions: Human-centered technology, infrastructure management, public service enhancement, and participatory planning.
- Resilience & City Diplomacy: Local community adaptability, spatial justice, and international city-to-city partnerships.
Submission Guidelines
- Article Length: 1,000–1,500 words
- Format: Articles must be well-structured, original, and policy-oriented, integrating practical municipal case studies with practical governance insights.
- Visual Assets: High-quality supporting visual materials (photographs, maps, demographic charts, or infographics) are strongly encouraged.
