We are pleased to invite article contributions for Issue 51 (June edition) of MEWA Agora, themed: “Green Frontiers: Local Leadership in Biodiversity & Land Restoration.”
This issue will focus on how local and regional governments are leading the transition toward more resilient and nature-positive cities, particularly in arid and semi-arid areas of the MEWA region. It will highlight innovative approaches to biodiversity conservation, land restoration, and sustainable urban development in the face of climate and environmental challenges.

Thematic Focus Areas
Contributions may address the following topics:
- Nature-based solutions for urban resilience and ecosystem restoration
- Urban forestry practices and green infrastructure development
- Water-sensitive and water-resilient urban planning approaches
- Combating desertification and land degradation in arid and semi-arid cities
- Local policies and governance mechanisms supporting biodiversity
- Community engagement and multi-level partnerships for environmental sustainability
Global Alignment
This issue aligns with key global environmental milestones, including World Environment Day (5 June), and contributes to ongoing global dialogues in the lead-up to UNCCD COP17 (August 2026, Mongolia) and CBD COP17 (October 2026, Armenia) both of which place strong emphasis on land restoration and biodiversity.
Submission Guidelines
- Article length: 1,000–1,500 words
- Articles should be original, well-structured, and policy-oriented, combining analysis with practical examples or case studies.
The publication features four main types of content: Feature, Opinion Piece, Interview, and Best Practice. In addition, Urban Columns highlight specific city-related themes, such as City and Gastronomy and City Overview.
Submissions should clearly connect local experiences with regional or global urban innovation trends
