On July 9, 2024, Fatih Municipality convened its external stakeholders at Neslişah Sultan Cultural Center for a workshop titled “Future Outlook: SWOT and PESTLE Workshop” as part of its 2025-2029 Strategic Plan. The workshop was attended by approximately 250 participants, including representatives from Fatih Municipality, UCLG-MEWA, various public institutions, NGOs, international organizations, and private sector.
The event began with an opening speech by Mehmet Ergün Turan, Mayor of Fatih. During the workshop, Çise Kan presented the municipality’s projects and activities from the years 2019-2024. The presentation highlighted the work done in the education sector among the 400 projects carried out in the past five years.
The presentations underlined that 30% of Istanbul’s cultural assets are located in Fatih district, which is home to a total of 10,520 cultural assets. Additionally, it was noted that the top five districts in Istanbul with significant cultural assets include Beyoğlu, Üsküdar, Beşiktaş, and Adalar.
Following the informative presentation by Prof. Dr. Aytaç Yıldız about the workshop, group work was conducted on Fatih Municipality’s mission, vision, and core values. Twenty different groups presented their evaluations after approximately 45 minutes of work. In the afternoon session, SWOT and PESTLE analyses were conducted to provide strategic assessments for Fatih Municipality.
While the large number of participants posed a challenge regarding content management, it provided significant advantages in terms of getting to know new institutions and exploring collaboration opportunities.
This event, conducted by Fatih Municipality with external stakeholders as part of its strategic planning process, is considered as a significant step in defining the municipality’s future goals.
