At its headquarters in Sultanahmet, Istanbul, UCLG-MEWA hosted Mustafa Destici, the Chairman of the Great Unity Party (BBP) and his accompanying delegation. Dr. Mehmet Duman, UCLG-MEWA Secretary General and his team informed Destici about the ongoing activities and agenda of the organization on May 28, 2024.
In addition, the team also addressed issues such as digital transformation, smart city practices, consolidation of local governments and advises for cities on the way of reaching sustainable development goals.
Following the visit, Dr. Duman expressed his pleasure upon the visit by Destici and added, “We had the chance to make a fruitful discussion on various issues such as city diplomacy, urban health, environmental sustainability and cultural heritage. In addition, we briefly informed them about our agenda for the year 2024. Such visits are of great important as they unite local governments and national leaders to cooperate for common goals.”
Prior to ending the negotiation, Dr. Duman, UCLG-MEWA Secretary General presented Destici a book written by Kadir Topbaş, the Founding President of UCLG-MEWA.
