The International Conference “Reshaping Power for Equality: Women’s Political Participation and the Future of Democracy,” which will take place in Stockholm, Sweden, from 23 to 24 September 2025. The deadline for applications is 15 September 2025. Bearing in mind that the participation is limited, we kindly advise you to submit your application as soon as possible.
This event is co-organized by UCLG and the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR), and will bring together local and regional government leaders, networks of women elected officials, and other key stakeholders to mark three decades since the Beijing Declaration and lay the groundwork for the next 30 years of feminist municipal leadership.
This high-level event will feature strategic dialogues to empower women’s political participation and leadership, exchanges on critical issues such as gender-based violence, youth engagement, and transforming social norms at the local level, and a closing session calling for renewed commitment to a shared vision for an inclusive democracy, rooted in equality, care, and local action.
