INTERNATIONAL FUND FOR METROPOLISES LOCAL CARE SYSTEMS

The International Fund for Metropolises offers grants of up to €100,000 to support cities in developing programs that strengthen care services and support for caregivers. Led by Metropolis in collaboration with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and Open Society Foundations, the Fund provides technical and financial resources to city, metropolitan, and provincial governments. Its main objectives are:

  • Supporting and representing care workers,
  • Addressing gender inequalities in care responsibilities,
  • Recognizing, reducing, and redistributing care work,
  • Ensuring care is central in policymaking.

Applicants are encouraged to submit their most innovative ideas to ensure that caregivers—especially those from migrant, refugee, and internally displaced backgrounds and communities—are included in the project design and implementation. This could involve:

  • Piloting new approaches,
  • Scaling existing efforts,
  • Expanding outreach to migrant, refugee and internally displaced communities,
  • Replicating successful practices from other areas or cities

Eligible Regions: North Africa and the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe

Application Deadline: 29 November 2024, 5:00 PM (CET)
