Kartepe Summit 2018: “Migration, Refugees and Humanity”


After its first edition on “July 15th and Coups D’etat,” the second edition of Kartepe Summit will be held with the theme “Migration, Refugees and Humanity”, in Kartepe, Kocaeli, Turkey on 26-28 October 2018.

Organized under the auspices of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, the Kartepe Summit aims to bring together those who are seeking solutions to the problems of humanity in order to address sociological issues that concern the world, and in order to develop new solution proposals for the problems encountered in today’s world.

The summit will bring together academics, intellectuals from many countries of the world, representatives of NGOs, representatives of regional and international organizations, to voice out their ideas and suggestions to the world.

Kartepe Summit 2018 consists of conferences, workshops, panels and academic sessions. This year, the Kartepe Summit Declaration will be announced following the Summit, as in the previous year.

Fatma Şahin, Mayor of Gaziantep & UCLG-MEWA President, will take place in the Honorary Board of the Symposium, while Mehmet Duman, UCLG-MEWA Secretary General, will take place in the Science Committee of the Symposium of the event, in which UCLG-MEWA is one of the organizing stakeholders.

Mayors, representatives from relevant units of municipalities and NGO representatives from Turkey, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and Jordan, will participate and contribute in the Summit.
