Prof. Dr. Gökhan Orhan, Lecturer at 17 Mayıs University, Faculty of Financial and Administrative Sciences, Department of Political Sciences and Public Administration, participated in the fifteenth session of the Local Government Talks which UCLG-MEWA organizes at its headquarters in Sultanahmet, Istanbul. Prof. Dr. Gökhan Orhan stated in his speech, titled ‘’Local Authorities and Environment’’, that local governments are not only effective in producing environmental problems, but their solutions should be provided by local authorities, as well. Prof. Dr. Orhan, having explained the historical background of environmental management, stated that local authorities have great potential in this regard, and they are qualified to make a difference. The program continued with presentation of a plaque and refreshments.
