The Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation is now open for submissions.
The Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation is co-sponsored by the City of Guangzhou, the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) and the World Association of the Major Metropolises (Metropolis).
The 7th Guangzhou Award aims to recognize innovation in enhancing social, economic, and environmental sustainability, as well as promoting good urban governance in cities and regions.
The Award has established itself as a global platform for city-to-city learning, attracting over 1,600 initiatives worldwide across the past six cycles. These initiatives are compiled in the Urban Innovation Database under the Guangzhou Award to boost best practices among local and regional governments by advocating exchanges and mutual learning.
The 7th cycle of the award is now calling for participation from all cities and local governments around the world with ongoing or recently completed initiatives, including those that are implemented in collaboration with private and civil society partners.
The thematic areas include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Social inclusion and shared prosperity
- Environmental protection and resilience
- Public services and infrastructure
- Urban heritage and cultural preservation
- Smart cities and the use of digital technologies
- Urban governance
Applications are open until April 30, 2026 and must be completed via an online platform.
