UCLG-MEWA Prepares Youth for the Future through Volunteer Training

United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA) organized an online training session on March 6, 2025, as part of its Volunteer Program, which aims to support the professional development of youth and encourage civic engagement.

The training was delivered by Fatih Gökyıldız, UCLG-MEWA’s Coordinator of Research, Development and Projects. The session aimed to prepare prospective volunteers with essential knowledge before starting their assignments by providing a comprehensive overview of the structure of UCLG and UCLG-MEWA, the concept and framework of volunteering, and the organization’s policies and areas of work in the MEWA region.

Participants comprised university students and recent graduates from various institutions across Türkiye. Alumni of the Volunteer Program also joined the session to share their experiences and inspire the new cohort. The interactive training concluded successfully with active engagement and a dynamic exchange of ideas between the participants.

Having positively completed its first year, the UCLG-MEWA Volunteer Program continues to contribute to the career development of youth and connect them with the global network of local governments.
