United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA) will organize its Executive Bureau Meeting & Panel on Participation and Entrepreneurship on the Axis of Gender Equality, on 27-29 April 2018, under the auspices of Karesi Municipality, in Balıkesir, Turkey.
On the first day of the event; UCLG-MEWA Executive Bureau Meeting, and the 4th Meeting of UCLG-MEWA Committee on Gender Equality will be held to discuss the administrative affairs of the Committee and to share good practices implemented by the Committee members for achieving gender equality. In the panel which will be organized on the second day of the program, three sessions will take place on gender equality: “Participation”, “Women’s Employment & Entrepreneurship” and “Women Who Make Difference”.
After the opening session of the Panel, the Commitment on Localization of Sustainable Development Goal 5 will be signed by participating municipalities, with the leadership of the Presidency of Committee on Gender Equality under UCLG-MEWA, which advocates for the localization of Goal 5 on “achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls” (SDG 5) among 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
