As circulated in the Call for Nominations: UCLG-MEWA Governing Bodies Elections (2025–2028 Term) on 7 July 2025, the initial deadline for submitting nominations was 15 August 2025. However, due to the recent completion of local elections in some countries of our region, the upcoming elections in others during the autumn, and the fact that August is a general holiday period across the region, the UCLG-MEWA General Secretariat has received numerous requests from members to extend the nomination deadline.
In response to these requests, the deadline for submitting nominations has been extended to 5 September 2025.
Furthermore, as previously announced, the UCLG-MEWA Congress—initially scheduled for 25-26-27 September 2025 under the auspices of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, has been postponed due to insufficient participation confirmations as of 15 August 2025. The Congress will now be held on 2-3-4 October 2025 at the Bayır Diamond Hotel & Convention Center in Konya.
Local leaders who wish to be part of the governing bodies mentioned in the circular dated 7 July 2025 are kindly requested to submit separate motivation letters for each position (Presidency, Co-Presidency, Ombudsman, Committees Presidency, and Ambassadors) to the UCLG-MEWA General Secretariat by the given deadline.
