Gürkan Boztepe, President of Gastronomy Tourism Association (GTD), gave a talk on Gastronomy Tourism and Brand Cities, within the scope of the first UCLG-MEWA Local Government Talk in 2018.
The first guest of UCLG-MEWA Local Government Talk in 2018 was Gürkan Boztepe, President of GTD, with the program organized on 28 February 2018, at UCLG-MEWA Headquarters in Sultanahmet, Istanbul.
Having significant activities on gastronomy, President Boztepe highlighted the importance of gastronomy tourism and brand cities.
During his speech, Mr. Boztepe pointed out that the aim of GTD is to bring Turkish products and Turkish cuisine to the forefront in the world. He added on that Turkish cuisine need to gain more recognition worldwide, noting the diversity it bears. Mr. Boztepe also stated that they are the first organizers of the Yogurt Congress in the country.
The participants also took part in the Talk and gave brief information about the local culinary cultures of their hometowns.
Taking the floor after discussions; Mehmet Duman, UCLG-MEWA Secretary General, said that local governments have an important role in terms of gastronomy.
At the end of the Talk, Secretary General Duman presented a plaque to President Boztepe, in memory of the day. The program ended with the shoot of souvenir photos.
