As UCLG-MEWA, we are pleased to invite you to join us at the UCLG World Congress in Tangier, Morocco, where UCLG-MEWA will be actively participating in the proceedings alongside its members. The World Congress is the highest decision-making gathering of UCLG bringing together local leaders from across the globe to reflect on the organization’s achievements, define strategic priorities, and elect the governing bodies that will lead UCLG for the 2026–2029 mandate. On the sidelines of the Congress, UCLG-MEWA will hold two dedicated regional sessions.
- UCLG-MEWA Caucus Session
The first is the UCLG-MEWA Caucus, taking place on Monday, 22 June 2026 at 10.00-11.30 AM. The Caucus will provide a space for regional members to align on key priorities, coordinate positions ahead of the Congress proceedings, and discuss governance, elections, and regional representation for the coming term. - UCLG-MEWA Assembly Session
The second session is the UCLG-MEWA Assembly Session, on Wednesday, 24 June 2026 at 9.00-10.30 AM. The Assembly will address the regional priorities that will guide UCLG-MEWA’s work in the coming years, present the Position Paper for the 2026–2029 term, and discuss frameworks for cooperation among member local governments across the MEWA Region.

We warmly invite all our members to contribute to the Position Paper. Please submit your contributions to us no later than 17 June 2026, Wednesday, by 5:00 PM (Turkey Time / UTC+3).
Both sessions will be conducted in Arabic, English, and Turkish.
