An Extraordinary Session of the UCLG Statutory Affairs Committee was convened online on July 7, 2025, bringing together members of the UCLG Presidency, the UCLG World Secretariat, representatives of the Statutory Affairs Committee, and delegates from various UCLG Sections.
The primary objective of the session was to present the outcomes of the Committee on Statutory Affairs meeting held in Seville, Spain, on April 2, 2025. Discussions focused on key institutional matters, including the UCLG General Rules of Procedure, the UCLG Electoral Calendar for 2026, and the eligibility criteria for candidates preparing to contest in the upcoming UCLG Congress, scheduled for June 2026 in Tangier, Morocco.
In addition, the session featured the presentation of the Working Group on Institutional Affairs report, delivered by the Group’s Chair, Berry Vrbanovic, highlighting recent developments and recommendations.
The MEWA Region demonstrated strong representation, led by Uğur İbrahim Altay, UCLG Executive President and Mayor of Konya, alongside Dr. Mehmet Duman, Secretary General of UCLG-MEWA, who actively contributed to the discussions and shared reflections on the matters addressed.
