Tayseer Abu Sneineh, Mayor of Hebron and President of the United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA), paid a visit to the UCLG-MEWA General Secretariat, with his team on July 1, 2024.
During his visit, President Abu Sneineh was briefed on the agenda, ongoing projects, and volunteer activities of UCLG-MEWA. UCLG-MEWA Secretary General Dr. Mehmet Duman provided detailed information about the current work flow and future plans. He particularly focused on the activities that UCLG-MEWA and the Hebron Municipality could carry out with the participation of volunteers.
President Abu Sneineh expressed his appreciation for UCLG-MEWA’s efforts in strengthening local governments in the region and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. He also stated that they aim to enhance the cooperation of Palestinian local governments with UCLG-MEWA, saying, “With the activities it’s been carrying out, UCLG-MEWA is of great importance in enhancing the capacity of local governments in Palestine and supporting regional development.”
At the end of the visit, President Abu Sneineh and Dr. Mehmet Duman exchanged ideas on future collaboration opportunities and joint projects. Both parties emphasized their commitment to continue working together to strengthen local governments in the region.
