SDG Index Training in Collaboration with the Union of Mediterranean Municipalities of Türkiye


The SDG Index Training, organized by UCLG-MEWA and hosted by the Union of Mediterranean Municipalities of Türkiye, was successfully held on September 24, 2026. Designed to boost the institutional capacity of local municipalities, the session focused on advancing data-driven decision-making aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Led by UCLG-MEWA Deputy Secretary-General Ali Murat Duman, the training outlined methodological frameworks for monitoring, measuring, and evaluating SDGs at the local level. Throughout the program, attendees exchanged insights on tracking sustainability performance, utilizing key indicators, and embedding SDGs into strategic planning and policy creation.

UCLG-MEWA Communications Officer Amir Lütfioğlu also participated in the training. The training provided participants with practical examples of implementing the SDG Index system at the local government level, while fostering an interactive learning environment that encouraged inter-institutional knowledge sharing. 

By the end of the workshop, speakers emphasized the crucial role of integrating the SDG Index Rating framework into municipal strategic planning to drive transparency, accountability, and sustainable development.

Following the event which effectively strengthened collaboration and knowledge exchange across participating organizations, Deputy Secretary General Ali Murat Duman concluded the program by presenting certificates to the attendees.
