UCLG-MEWA AND UEF FORGE HISTORIC PARTNERSHIP TO DRIVE SUSTAINABLE URBAN DEVELOPMENT


In a bid to strengthen International Cooperation and develop new partnerships, UCLG-MEWA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Urban Economy Forum (UEF). The MoU aims to Foster Sustainable Urban Development in the Globe, particularly in the Middle East and West Asia on 1 September.

After joint consultations, the representatives of UCLG-MEWA and UEF concluded to declare a new partnership for urban development in the form of the MoU. This significant event signifies a commitment to collaborate on diverse initiatives to advance sustainable urban development.

Dr. Mehmet Duman, UCLG-MEWA Secretary-General, Mr. Reza Pourvaziry, Chair of the Urban Economy Forum, and their respective teams convened to formalize this partnership. The MoU focuses on activities outlined in Article 3, emphasizing collaboration concerning Local Urban Finance. This MoU establishes a cooperative framework that defines both organizations’ roles, responsibilities and shared commitment.

This historic MoU symbolizes a collective endeavor to address common urban challenges and promote sustainable development across the Middle East and West Asia region. It sets the stage for transformative initiatives with the potential to positively impact urban environments, benefiting communities within the region and worldwide.
