The SDG Index Training, organized by UCLG-MEWA and hosted by the Esenler Municipality Directorate of Innovation and Technology, was successfully held on January 22, 2026. The training aimed to strengthen the institutional capacities of local governments in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to support data-driven decision-making processes.
The training, delivered by UCLG-MEWA Deputy Secretary-General Ali Murat Duman, addressed the methodological framework for monitoring, measuring, and evaluating SDGs at the local level.
Throughout the program, participants shared knowledge and experience on measuring sustainability performance, using indicators, and integrating SDGs into strategic planning and policy development processes.
UCLG-MEWA International Relations Coordinator Dr. Reem Abusamra also participated in the training. The training provided participants with practical examples of implementing the SDG Index system at the local government level, while fostering an interactive learning environment that encouraged inter-institutional knowledge sharing.
At the end of the training, the importance of integrating the SDG Index Rating system into the strategic planning processes of local governments was emphasized in terms of transparency, accountability, and achieving sustainable development goals.
The program concluded by providing a platform that strengthened knowledge sharing and institutional cooperation among the participants. Following the approximately two-hour training, the program was completed with the presentation of certificates to the participants by UCLG-MEWA Deputy Secretary-General Ali Murat Duman.
