The UCLG-MEWA General Assembly is the highest-level body of UCLG-MEWA. It is authorized and responsible for the general policies, direction, and oversight of the Section.

UCLG-MEWA General Assembly ordinarily convenes in the same year as the UCLG World Congress and in April or May, at a place to be determined by the UCLG-MEWA Council. General Assembly may be called for an extraordinary meeting by the Executive Bureau in cases deemed necessary by the Executive Bureau or the Supervisory Board or upon the written application of one-fifth of the members of UCLG-MEWA.
