Call for Contributions: Localizing the Right to Adequate Housing

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Adequate Housing has launched a Call for Input entitled “Localizing the Right to Adequate Housing: How Local Governments and Community-Led Initiatives Can Contribute to the Realization of the Right to Adequate Housing”.

The call aims to inform the Special Rapporteur’s thematic report to be presented to the 64th session of the UN Human Rights Council in 2027. Contributions are invited on good practices, challenges, and recommendations related to the realization of the right to adequate housing at the local level, including community-led initiatives.

Eligibility: 

Local and regional governments, civil society organizations, academic institutions, national human rights institutions, and other relevant stakeholders are encouraged to submit their contributions.

Submissions should be submitted in English, French, or Spanish and should not exceed 3,000 words.

The deadline for submissions is 21 September 2026 (18:00 Geneva time).
