MAYORS FROM LEBANON VISITED NURSING HOMES IN ISTANBUL


Lebanese Delegation, consisting of Mohamad Saadie, UCLG-MEWA Honorary President, Deputy Ombudsman, and President of the Union of Dannieh Municipalities, and Mohamad Dergham, President of the Union of Dahieh Municipalities, made essential visits on June 24, 2024 as part of UCLG-MEWA social inclusion activities before the UCLG-MEWA Executive Bureau meeting to be held in Karatay.

The delegation visited nursing homes to see the living conditions of old age people and listen to their problems. The nursing homes visited were Lotus Nursing Home and Elderly Care Center and Nezih Nursing Home and Elderly Care Center.

Lotus Nursing Home and Elderly Care Center Visit

Executive Bureau members first visited Lotus Nursing Home and Elderly Care Center. During the visit, members gathered detailed insights about the living conditions of the elderly, engaged in productive discussions with the nursing home staff, and underscored the importance of ensuring adequate facilities to promote a peaceful and secure living environment for the elderly. The members listened attentively to the concerns of the care center’s inhabitants and stressed the importance of initiatives to enhance their quality of life.

Nezih Nursing Home and Elderly Care Center Visit

The delegation then proceeded to Nezih Nursing Home and Elderly Care Center, where they attentively listened to the needs and concerns of the inhabitants. Through sincere interactions, the team fostered a sense of connection and support among the elderly. The members also discussed potential initiatives to enhance the participation of senior citizens in social activities.

Emphasis on Social Inclusion

Following these visits, the delegation emphasized the integral role of senior citizens in society and the necessity of improving their quality of life.
