UCLG-MEWA proudly announces its latest publication on child labor: “Child Labor in the Middle East and West Asia: A Regional Analysis for Local Governments in Global Agendas’ Perspective.”
Written by Dr. Mehmet DUMAN, UCLG-MEWA Secretary General and Yehia IBRAHIM, Policy Officer, this comprehensive work underlines the roles that may be undertaken by the local governments in the region in fighting child labor.
Covering its historical background, the book offers a detailed analysis on the current situation of child labor, especially the case in the Middle East and West Asia Region. Offering also the legal regulations on child labor by the countries in MEWA region, the book stands as a practical guide that presents concrete recommendations for local governments, taking it beyond an academic publication.
In the preface section, Tayseer Abu SNEINEH, UCLG-MEWA President, draws attention to the fact that child labor is not only an issue of economics but also a serious issue on human pride and rights. Featuring the precautions to be taken by local governments to end child labor, this book offers a road map of possible implementations to be applied by the LRGs in MEWA Region.
The book, Child Labor in the Middle East and West Asia, was written with an aim to raise awareness on the problem of child labor and to ensure increasing the role of LRGs in fighting it.
