UCLG-MEWA’s International Relations Coordinator Dr. Reem Abusamra and Research Assistant Mehmet Arda Yıldız actively participated in the Zero Waste Forum organized by the Zero Waste Foundation (ZWF) in Istanbul on October 17–19. bringing together local governments, experts, and stakeholders to exchange ideas, best practices, and innovative actions for a cleaner, circular future.
During the forum, the partnership between UCLG-MEWA and ZWF was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), institutionalizing their joint efforts to promote sustainable development, zero waste policies, and circular economy initiatives across the region.
Representing UCLG-MEWA on behalf of the incarcerated President Tayseer Abu Sneineh, Co-President of UCLG-MEWA and President of Urban Community Al Fayhaa, Wael Zmerly attended the official ceremony. He was joined by Mustafa Erdağı, General Manager of ZWF, and Mohamad Saadieh, UCLG-MEWA Honorary President.
This collaboration demonstrates UCLG-MEWA’s ongoing commitment to supporting local governments in implementing practical solutions for sustainability, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility, and advancing the circular economy across cities in the MEWA region.
