UCLG has partnered with Bloomberg Philanthropies to implement the Youth Climate Action Fund (YCAF) — a groundbreaking initiative empowering cities to mobilize young people as key actors in local climate action.

The second phase of the program is now open and will offer support for up to 300 city halls.

Local governments will receive $50,000 and technical assistance per project to launch open innovation competitions and mobilize young people aged 15-24 to design, develop, and implement solutions that meet pressing local needs aligned to city climate goals. After the first year of the support, municipalities will receive additional funding of $50,000 to support more youth-driven projects.

The Expression of Interest (EoI) is now open for gathering city contacts. For EoI submission and further details, please find the link here.

Submitting the EoI is the first step and will be open until 23 January 2026 at 23:59 (New York time). The EoI application only requests the contact details of municipalities for the next steps.

As UCLG-MEWA, we encourage our members to apply for the EoI. For any queries, please contact rdp@uclg-mewa.org. Based on feedback from municipalities, UCLG might hold an information session.
